Remarks: Tropheus are obligate herbivores, and even small amounts of protein can induce bloating conditions. They form social hierarchies and should be kept in large groups. This species undergoes a dramatic color transformation as it matures, changing from black with light blue spots to mostly black with a thin yellow bar.
